13 Ways to Stay Soft in a Hard World

13 Ways to Stay Soft in a Hard World

  1. It’s ok to not be ok. The world is a hard place. Give yourself the room to not be “ok”. Often just having permission to feel off is all it takes to move on.
  2. Self-love hour. Ok, maybe an hour is a long time, but even if it’s just for a minute, give yourself some focused love. If you’re in a place where self-love is difficult try by focusing on something small that you like about yourself.
  3. Cover your body in cozy. At Chub Rub we believe that comfort in your body is something everyone in every body deserves.  When you find something that brings you comfort, your days will be more comfortable too.
  4. Create about it. Whether you’re a writer, a maker, or just a doodler, creating gives you a special space to process your feels. We find it’s easiest when you don’t plan to show these to others.
  5. Softness triggers. By now we all know we have triggers, but did you know these aren’t always a bad thing? Certain scents, sounds, tastes, and other feeling can trigger softness in you, too.
  6. Cultivate your space. A space that is tailored to your needs gives you the space to feel your vulnerabilities.
  7. Try sharing yourself. Find a friend, loved one, or even a relevant group where you can share what you’re dealing with.  Remember, emotional support is a two way street.  Remember to listen, too.
  8. Give yourself a fucking break. I mean, come on. You deserve it.  Productivity is a loosing battle.
  9. Breathing. Try box breathing, or if that still isn’t enough to help you feel soft try holding ice cubes in your palms.
  10. Throw yourself a slumber party. Whether you invite friends, or enjoy it on your own, indulge in some stress free playful relaxation.
  11. Focus on the small things. Life isn’t perfect, but most likely there is something in your life that you love just the way it is.
  12. High vibe music. We recommend Peachkka, Moonlight Scorpio, and Mellow Will. (Also check out these artists on TikTok for live content.)
  13. Let go of the outcome. Freedom comes when you allow things to be, as they will be.
